Opening Reception: 4:00 – 10:00 p.m.Sandra Ramos was born in the Havana in October of 1969, where she study Fine Arts graduating of the Higher Institute of Arts of Cuba in 1993. Her works that integrate multiplicity of techniques as installation, painting, engraving and drawing, are based on the recovery of a social and individual memory, linked to the difficulties of the daily life in Cuba and to subjects as solitude, emigration, and the political manipulation of the history and the memory.
As part of her professional development she has been teaching at the Higher Institute of Arts in Havana, as well as present numerous conferences and workshops in art centers around the world as Fuchu Art Museum; Lowe Art Museum, Florida University; Casa de las Americas, Havana. School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Barbican Center, London. and L´ecole deux Beaux Arts, Paris.
Sandra Ramos has received recognitions as: The National Culture Distinction of Cuba; The National Prize of Engraving. Cuba. The Youth Stamps Latin-American Price. CubA, as well as residences in Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Norwalk, CT. Mattress Factory, Pittsburg; Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown; Barbican Center in London; Civitella Ranieri Foundation Italy.
